Job summary

PACS is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in delivering a creative activities program for residents in a long-term care setting.

You will help plan and run individual and group activities while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The role emphasizes communication with staff, residents, and families, organizing calendars, arranging transportation, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility.
  • Ability to read technical procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Math: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct individual, small and large group activities.
  • Maintain good communication between employees, residents, families, and the public.
  • Assist in developing monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
  • Assist in discharge planning and resident assessments.
  • Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharge.
  • Develop monthly activity schedules including outings and in-room activities.
  • Encourage participation in hobbies, crafts, reading; provide materials.
  • Assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes.
  • Keep the Activity Department clean, orderly and secure.

Education
