Job summary

PACS seeks an Activity Assistant to help the Activity Director run a creative, interactive activities program for residents in a long-term care setting, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and residents’ needs.

You will plan activities for individuals and groups, maintain calendars and attendance, arrange transportation, and support assessments and discharge planning. A high school diploma and at least one year of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and conducting activities for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
• Assist in communication between staff, residents, families, and the public.
• Develop monthly activity calendars and maintain attendance records.
• Assist in discharge planning and activity care plans.
• Arrange transportation for residents as needed.
• Keep the Activity Department clean, orderly and secure.
