Job summary

University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point is seeking a Student Help: Thomson Hall Community Development Assistant (CDA) for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The CDA will live in the assigned residence hall and support hall staff through creative, design-based, and collaborative efforts.

The role includes creating development materials, hosting educational conversations about housing policies, and coordinating with RHD and desk staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the start of employment.
  • Full‑time enrollment (minimum 12 credits) with no more than 16 credits unless approved by the RHD.
  • At least two semesters of residence hall living experience prior to employment.
  • Experience in the Department of Housing and Residence Life as a student leader for at least two semesters.
  • Criminal background check and TitleIX related checks required.
  • Ability to work the full contracted dates for the 2026‑2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hall staff to develop materials and strategies for social and hall programs.
  • Attend hall activities and events as specified by the Residence Hall Director.
  • Create community development materials (e.g., bulletin boards) and discuss housing policies with residents.
  • Model a wellness lifestyle and educate residents about the community development model.
  • Encourage student ideas and involvement throughout the residence hall.
  • Maintain open communication with the RHD regarding programming and resident concerns.
  • Complete administrative tasks for hall staff programs (SPIN logistics, marketing).
  • Attend weekly meetings and conduct monthly health and safety checks of residence hall rooms.
  • Co‑supervise with the RHD and schedule desk staff, including Resident Assistants.
  • Plan and facilitate desk staff meetings and share information.
  • Provide co‑advising support for program boards and participate in student events planning.
  • Communicate openly with the RHD, other staff, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Serve as campus security authority and complete required training; report incidents.
  • Uphold FERPA and TitleIX responsibilities.
