Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Hyer Hall seeks a Community Development Assistant (CDA) to promote hall staff success through creativity and collaboration. This part-time student role lives in the residence hall and supports 250-325 residents with training and materials creation.

The position involves education, bulletins, and coordinated programming while balancing a full-time academic schedule. Prior residence life experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Pass a Criminal Background Check, Misconduct Reference Check, and Position of Trust with vulnerable populations.
• Be available to work the full contracted date for the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the start of employment.
• Have lived in a residence hall for more than two semesters.
• Be enrolled as a full-time student (12-credit minimum).
• Show ability to think and create items creatively without compromising messaging.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with hall staff in developing materials, strategies, and supporting social and hall programs.
• Attend hall activities and events as specified by the Residence Hall Director.
• Create materials for community development efforts such as bulletin boards in common spaces.
• Facilitate educational conversations with residents around community standards and policies.
• Assist hall staff in modeling a wellness lifestyle and teaching students about the community development model.
• Maintain open and frequent communication with the RHD about programming plans.
