Job summary

MSU - Michigan State University is seeking a Research Info Technologist to support diverse research technology environments, including end-user computing, research endpoints, instrument workstations, data workflows, and network infrastructure across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You will collaborate with researchers, campus IT partners, and vendors to design, configure, and maintain secure, reliable IT solutions that meet operational needs while aligning with university security, data protection,

Qualifications

Four-year degree in CS/IS or related IT field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1–3 years of related IT work experience in research, higher education, or similar environments.
Experience aligning IT systems with security, data protection, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and Linux computing systems and research endpoints.
Provide advanced technical and end-user support for hardware, software, and research IT services.
Support data and storage workflows, including file services, transfers, access and permissions.
Troubleshoot network connectivity and coordinate with campus networking and security teams.
Apply IT security standards and assist with safeguards for research systems and data.
Collaborate with researchers, IT teams, and vendors to identify requirements and resolve issues.
Participate in planning and implementing research technology projects and maintain technical documentation.
