Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a qualified SCADA engineer to design, develop, and deliver SCADA integration components for utility-scale solar and battery projects. The role offers hybrid options with in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR, or fully remote, with location discussed during interviews.

You will work with cross-functional teams to implement standards, configure SCADA systems, and support site commissioning, testing, and documentation, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Ignition SCADA platform experience.
• Relational databases and SCADA apps knowledge.
• Familiarity with PLC equipment (Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i, etc.).
• Experience installing and commissioning SCADA networks (fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Ability to read and develop diagrams and schematics.
• Work with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Experience with project management, scheduling and task tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SCADA integration components for solar PV and BESS projects.
• Define and implement product design standards and best practices.
• Review and implement project-specific requirements.
• Create device points lists, HMI assets, test plans and checklists.
• Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI.
• Review closeout documentation to verify contractual deliverables.
• Provide intermediate technical support for SCADA configurations.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Assist with maintaining a centralized knowledge base.
• Apply diagnostic utilities for troubleshooting plant monitoring.
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning.
• Learn software/hardware used by the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for platform development and data integration.
• Provide status reports and support risk mitigation to meet goals.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance standards.
• Support SOLV Operations center for project integrations.
