Job summary

AvonRisk, the nation’s leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, seeks a senior Claims Manager to lead the department under the Vice President of Claims. You will coach supervisors, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with Labor Code provisions and company rules while guiding the team toward high-quality work.

This role manages 3–7 supervisors and 7–10 staff, develops talent, controls expenses, and represents the firm at industry events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years progressive claims experience.
• Supervisory experience managing a team of 3–7 supervisors and 7–10 employees.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
• Working knowledge of the California Labor Code as it pertains to workers’ compensation claims.

Responsibilities

• Lead claims department, ensuring timely performance reviews and budget adherence.
• Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback to supervisors and staff.
• Ensure all claims handling complies with applicable statutes and company rules.
• Manage department operating expenses within the approved budget.
• Represent AvonRisk at industry functions when needed and coordinate with clients.
