Job summary

AvonRisk, the nation's leading specialty risk manager for self-insured organizations, is seeking a Claims Unit Leader reporting to the Claims Manager. You will oversee a team of Claims Specialists and Assistants, ensuring timely processing, compliance with Labor Code rules, and high-quality service to clients.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, conducting performance reviews, performing quarterly audits, and maintaining collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher and 5+ years of progressive technical claim experience.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of California Labor Code related to workers' compensation.
• Ability to coach and conduct performance evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance reviews for the unit and ensure timely completion.
• Provide mentoring, coaching, and feedback to staff.
• Ensure claims handling complies with statutes and company rules.
• Audit 10% of open inventories quarterly for accuracy and process improvement.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration with other departments.
• Escalate issues to the Claims Manager as needed.
