Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Workers Compensation Associate Claims Adjuster in the West Region. You will develop the knowledge to conduct thorough investigations, determine liability and compensability, evaluate losses, negotiate settlements and manage an inventory of commercial claims with structured training and one-on-one mentoring.

Training begins with a comprehensive program and on-the-job coaching. The role may be filled as Associate Claims Adjuster I or II.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, analytical and negotiation abilities required.
• Ability to provide information clearly with an appropriate level of detail.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Experience in a customer service/retail environment preferred.
• Analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions; normally via Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage and medical terminology helpful but not mandatory.
• Licensing may be required in some states.

Responsibilities

• Investigates new claims by reviewing first reports and supporting materials to gather information.
• Establishes action plans based on case facts, protocols, and jurisdictional issues.
• Manages an inventory of claims, evaluates liability, and negotiates settlements within prescribed limits.
• Establishes accurate loss cost estimates using available resources and market protocols.
• Confirms or denies coverage based on investigation findings and advises policyholders accordingly.
• Uses loss management techniques and other resources effectively.
• Updates files and provides comprehensive reports as required.
