Job summary

Welch Vacuum is looking for an Area Sales Manager to lead the Sales Engineering function across the US West Coast, Mexico, and potentially South America. Travel up to 75% is required to promote a range of vacuum technologies and OEM components to distributors, manufacturers, system integrators, and end-users in Life Sciences, Medical, Chemical, and General Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Drive Business Growth: Expand market share using modern prospecting methods, structured toll-gate sales processes, and solution-selling best practices.
• Manage & Acquire Accounts: Nurture the existing distributor base and partner with dealer reps while pursuing new distribution, reseller, and OEM opportunities.
• Provide Technical Support: Serve as a trusted technical advisor to OEMs, large end-users, and academic institutions to guide pump specification and selection in labs.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Field Sales Support, Application Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Demand Generation.
• Lead Commercial Negotiations: Manage pricing negotiations, define technical specs, and align on complex agreements.
• Build Multi-Level Relationships: Interface with engineering, purchasing, quality, and leadership across customers.
• Maintain Data Integrity: Manage accurate sales forecasts and CRM reporting to support growth objectives.
• Apply Subject Matter Expertise: Leverage vacuum pump knowledge to develop business and promote Welch brand.
