Steak 'n Shake is seeking a Vice President of Restaurant Operations to drive operational excellence, financial performance, and sustained growth across an assigned territory. This executive leader sets the strategic direction for Division Presidents and leadership teams, ensuring brand standards for Quality, Service, and Cleanliness.

Location: remote role near a major airport with priority to areas with multiple Steak 'n Shake locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive multi-unit restaurant operations leadership, including senior leadership experience supporting large-scale growth initiatives.
• Proven success leading new restaurant openings and organizational growth across multiple markets.
• Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing leaders with strong succession pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales growth and restaurant profitability by leveraging operational best practices and financial discipline.
• Deliver sustainable financial performance by achieving revenue, profitability, and operational objectives.
• Ensure P&L goals at the store level and develop mitigation strategies for underperforming locations.
• Partner with Operations, Marketing, Construction, Training, and Franchise leadership to ensure execution of growth initiatives.
• Establish operational disciplines and performance standards ensuring guest experiences and brand integrity.
• Lead, coach, and develop field leadership teams to maximize engagement and retention.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Champion franchise success by providing strategic guidance and leadership development to franchise partners.
• Develop and execute talent acquisition and leadership development strategies for growth.
• Provide strategic leadership to ensure HR policy compliance and a high-performance culture.
• Build organizational capability by developing restaurants into Training Restaurants and scalable leadership pipelines.
