Job summary

OnTrac is seeking a VP of Linehaul and Fleet Operations to lead transportation strategy, network performance, and enterprise-wide execution. You will oversee Directors of Transportation and Hub-to-Hub Operations, and drive carrier partnerships, safety, and cost effectiveness.

The role requires 15+ years of leadership in transportation, a related Bachelor's degree, and deep knowledge of truckload, intermodal, and final-mile markets. Up to 25% travel, remote work may be possible as OnTrac grows.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
15+ years of leadership experience in transportation, fleet, logistics, or operations.
Expert knowledge of transportation operations, fleets, and carrier relations.
Deep understanding of transportation economics, network modeling, and asset management.
Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and governance.
Expert knowledge of truckload, LTL, intermodal, rail, drayage, and final-mile markets.
Experience leading organizations with annual transportation spend over $250M.
Experience in rate negotiations and competitive RFPs.
Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute transportation strategies to optimize service, safety, cost, capacity, and network performance.
Provide leadership for Directors of Transportation and Hub-to-Hub Operations; oversee Carrier Management and Fleet Maintenance.
Design long-range network strategies including capacity planning, routing, and asset deployment.
Direct owned fleet and third-party carrier strategies; oversee intermodal integration.
Lead fleet maintenance, safety, compliance, and total cost of ownership initiatives.
Drive KPIs, analytics, and governance for safety, service, productivity, and financial results.
Oversee major transportation budgets and capital investments; manage cost inflation and market risk.
Guide technology roadmap for transportation systems and predictive analytics; drive adoption of AI tools.
Partner with Commercial and Operations to support growth opportunities and pricing strategies.
Negotiate multi-year transportation agreements and strategic partnerships; represent the company with carriers and regulators.
