Job summary

OnTrac is seeking a VP of Linehaul & Fleet Operations for a remote-capable role overseeing transportation strategy, network performance, and fleet operations with an annual spend over $500M.

This position requires 15+ years in transportation leadership, a bachelor’s degree, deep knowledge of linehaul, fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and negotiation skills. Travel up to 25% is expected and compensation ranges from $200,000 to $250,000 base plus incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 15+ years in transportation, logistics, or operations leadership
• Strong knowledge of transportation operations, linehaul networks, fleet management, and carrier relations
• Experience leading large-scale transportation and logistics networks with multi-level leadership
• Understanding of transportation safety standards, regulatory compliance, and governance
• Experience negotiating rates and RFPs
• Willingness to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute transportation strategies to optimize service, safety, cost, capacity, and network performance.
• Provide leadership for Directors of Transportation, Carrier Management, and Fleet Maintenance.
• Plan long-range transportation network design including capacity planning and route optimization.
• Direct company-owned fleet and carrier strategies, including intermodal usage.
• Lead enterprise fleet maintenance, safety, compliance, and cost optimization.
• Establish KPI and reporting frameworks for safety, service, productivity, and financial results.
• Oversee transportation and capital investment budgets and cost management.
• Drive technology roadmap including TMS, visibility platforms, and predictive analytics.
• Negotiate multi-year transportation agreements and strategic partnerships.
• Represent the organization with carriers, vendors, and regulators.
