Job summary

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is hiring entry-level, fully remote Medical Support Assistants to support the VA VISN 19 Office of Community Care. Work from home to schedule Veterans across the VISN 19 region, handling primary care, specialty clinics, and community care consults. Onboarding includes federal cybersecurity training and VA system training (VistA, CPRS).

Requirements: U.S. citizenship, a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of customer service, and a private home workspace within

Qualifications

• United States citizenship is required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Oral and written proficiency in English; basic computer skills.
• Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
• Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation (NACI, Low Risk).
• Quiet, private home workspace within 50 miles of a VISN 19 VA Medical Center with reliable internet.

Responsibilities

• Schedule Veteran appointments for primary care, specialty clinics, and community care.
• Verify and update patient demographics, next of kin, emergency contact, and insurance info.
• Document interactions in CPRS and VistA, targeting at least 20 cases per day.
• Coordinate with Lead Scheduler and care teams; escalate issues through defined channels.
• Provide professional, empathetic customer service by phone and secure channels.
• Complete annual cybersecurity, Privacy Act, and HIPAA training; maintain confidentiality.
