Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for the Northeast territory, a fully remote role with a preference for candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin. The position involves evaluating and underwriting new and renewal business in accordance with guidelines, analyzing risk data, and collaborating with actuaries, agents, and clients to obtain necessary information.

Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field.
• 5+ years of underwriting or related field experience.
• Completion of or progress toward professional designation such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Occasional travel required.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business per company guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk data to determine coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain information.
• Review reports (e.g., motor vehicle, loss history, outside inspections) to inform decisions.
• Document underwriting decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate existing policies for renewal or modification.
• Communicate decisions clearly to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and market conditions.
• Build and maintain relationships to generate new business and retain profitable accounts.
• Explain and market products and services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
