Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to support the Northeast territory from Maine to Virginia. The position is fully remote with a preference for candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin.

The role evaluates risk, underwrites new and renewal business, and collaborates with agents and clients to secure profitable coverage. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years in underwriting, with strong analytical and communication

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Position requires occasional travel.

Responsabilidades

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk data to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
• Orders and reviews additional reports and screens to inform decisions.
• Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
• Evaluates existing policies for potential renewal or modification.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stays updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers, focusing on generating new business and retaining profitable business.
• Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
