Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Specialty Human Services division is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to support the Northeast territory, Maine to Virginia. The position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin. Salary range is $90,000–$125,000 with competitive benefits.

Requires a bachelor's degree and 5+ years underwriting experience; professional designations are preferred. Travel occasionally to meet clients and partners as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting or related field experience.
• Professional designation (AU/CPCU/CIC/INS/ARM) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk data to determine coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather information.
• Orders and reviews reports (motor vehicle, loss history, outside inspections) to inform decisions.
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
