Job summary

GFT is seeking an OE Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group. Hybrid work is available for many locations, including Raleigh, NC, with remote options for the right candidate.

You will lead design reviews, coordinate with clients, and review submittals to ensure constructability and adherence to industry standards. The role requires a Civil/Electrical/Structural Engineering degree, 4+ years in transmission line design, and strong PLS-CADD skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and related codes and standards for transmission line design.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Knowledge and understanding of FAD Tools.
• Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee transmission line project designs as Owner’s Engineer for major utility clients.
• Review client submittals for constructability and compliance with standards.
• Review transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other structural design software.
• Review design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Review package drawings, staking tables, and plan/profile drawings for accuracy.
• Coordinate feasibility and routing studies, EMF calculations, and project planning.
