Job summary

AV Staffing Solutions is seeking a Level 2/3 Telecom Systems Support Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire. The role can be onsite in Plainview, NY, or fully remote, with 4–7+ years of Linux production experience and a strong focus on incident resolution.

You will investigate production incidents, analyze logs, and troubleshoot across OS, network, and apps. AWS/GCP familiarity and scripting skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of Linux administration experience in production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure layers.
• Experience supporting live production systems.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP.
• Basic scripting skills (Bash or Python).
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS).
• Experience working with Jira (preferred).
• Exposure to container technologies: Docker and OpenShift; container registries.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve escalated incidents on telecom platforms serving enterprise clients.
• Analyze logs and diagnose service failures.
• Troubleshoot across OS, network, application, and database layers.
• Restore stability in live production environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Assist with stabilization and support of next-generation systems.
• Perform system health monitoring.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Manage workflows and tickets through Jira.
• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL/CentOS environments.
• Support systems hosted in AWS (GCP acceptable).
• Write and execute Bash or Python scripts for diagnostics and operational tasks.
• Maintain and support cloud-hosted telecom workloads.
• Explore containerized workloads and related tooling as needed.
