Job summary

A prominent tech solutions firm is seeking a Telecom Systems Support Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. This position allows for remote work or onsite in Plainview, NY. The ideal candidate will have 4–7+ years of Linux administration experience and strong troubleshooting abilities across infrastructure, including AWS or GCP. You will play a critical role in supporting live production systems and resolving complex incidents that affect enterprise clients, ensuring operational excellence at all times.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of Linux administration experience in production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure layers.
• Experience supporting live production systems.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP.
• Basic scripting skills (Bash or Python).
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS).
• Experience working with Jira (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve escalated incidents on telecom platforms serving enterprise clients.
• Analyze logs and diagnose service failures.
• Troubleshoot across OS, network, application, and database layers.
• Restore stability in live production environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Assist with stabilization and support of next-generation systems.
• Perform system health monitoring.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Manage workflows and tickets through Jira.
• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL/CentOS environments.
• Support systems hosted in AWS (GCP acceptable).
• Write and execute Bash or Python scripts for diagnostics and operational tasks.
• Maintain and support cloud-hosted telecom workloads.
