Job summary

Aptive seeks a Technical Editor II to support federal research and transportation communications programs. The role requires transforming complex technical data into publication-ready documents, ensuring accuracy and accessibility, and managing end-to-end publication processes.

Remote work is anticipated with possible on-site requirements and travel for client engagements. A public trust clearance is required, and strong editing, standard style, and communication skills are essential to success

Qualifications

5 years of experience in technical writing or documentation.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related field.
Expert-level knowledge of GPO Style Manual and Chicago Manual of Style.
Experience ensuring Section 508 accessibility compliance.

Responsibilities

Edit technical brochures, SOPs, research reports, and other FHWA documents for accuracy and clarity.
Transform data and jargon into publication-ready documents meeting agency standards.
Ensure documents meet Section 508 accessibility and TFHRC CRG guidelines.
Manage full lifecycle of documents from outline to final publication, including online publishing.
Copyediting, proofreading, and formatting across print and electronic deliverables.
