Job summary

First Citizens Bank seeks a Systems Engineer III – Software Packager to design, test, and deploy secure software packages for macOS and Windows across a diverse enterprise. You will automate installations, manage privilege elevation, and document packaging processes while supporting desktop deployments and OS upgrades.

The role collaborates with IT teams, provides deployment guidance to Tier-1/2 support, and creates custom reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer
• Experience working on installation or application packaging teams in a large enterprise environment
• Experience working in the banking or financial services industry is a plus
• Strong knowledge of MacOS and Windows Desktop Operating Systems
• Extensive experience with application packaging tools and technologies (e.g., MSI, MSIX, Flexera AdminStudio, App-V, PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT), PowerShell)
• Proficiency in PowerShell for automation tasks, SQL queries, and creation of custom MECM reports
• Familiarity with deployment tools like MECM/SCCM, Jamf Composer, Intune, BigFix, Ivanti Patch, Patch My PC, 1E-Shopping
• Solid understanding of Windows registry, PC security principles, and GPOs
• Experience troubleshooting desktop-related issues including WMI & MECM client health issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and comfort with ambiguity
• Strong customer service skills and a customer-focused mindset

Responsibilities

• Create and modify software installation packages for macOS and Windows applications using industry-standard methods and tools
• Develop and maintain scripts and wrappers for automating installations and deployments
• Implement and manage privilege elevation solutions for deployments
• Create and maintain documentation of packaging processes
• Coordinate with owners, stakeholders, and requestors to gather packaging and deployment requirements
• Assist with automated deployment of packaged software using MECM/SCCM and Jamf
• Test and validate packages across macOS and Windows versions
• Troubleshoot deployment failures and compatibility problems
• Provide support for desktop-related projects including OS upgrades, deployments, and patching
• Communicate with end-users and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates
• Participate in incident response planning and recovery procedures in security incidents
