Job summary

Ingersoll Rand's Ecoplant division is seeking a System Design Engineer to drive the North American expansion by serving as the technical expert during the sales process, designing the system architecture, and providing documentation and on-site support during installation. You will collaborate with product management to feedback on design and roadmap, build customer dashboards, and guide installation teams remotely, with travel up to 30% across North America.

Remote work in the continental U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with 5+ years industrial controls experience.
• Experience with system architecture design for industrial systems.
• 2+ years industrial IT / networking and IoT device installations.
• 2+ years customer service in a technical industry.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics; strong problem-solving.
• Understanding of IoT protocols (Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP) and data security.
• Ability to manage multiple urgent issues in parallel.
• Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office suites.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-sales support as the product expert and assist in customer calls.
• Answer architecture and data security questions as first-line support.
• Occasionally perform site surveys to design solutions.
• Design system architecture for new installations, BOM, P&ID, integration strategy.
• Provide technical specs to Engine team for Dynamic Engine design.
• Build customer dashboards and support installation teams remotely.
• Prepare as-built docs, register mappings, and compressor integration details.
• Manage post-installation troubleshooting and escalations.
• Liaise with product management for feedback and roadmap.
• Support onboarding of new associates with training.
