Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services, LLC (IES) is seeking a Certified Medical Coding Specialist with emphasis on surgical services. Both AAPC or AHIMA certifications are acceptable; CGSC, CASCC, CCVTC or CPMA would be a plus.

The Medical Coding Specialist codes professional surgical services, reviews medical records for proper CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM coding, ensures documentation integrity, and supports clean claims through audits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional medical coding experience.
• Strong surgical coding experience required.
• Active CPC or CCS certification required.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II, and CMS rules.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services.
• Evaluate records for medical necessity, completeness, and accuracy.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.
• Identify undercoding, overcoding, and unbundling issues.
• Support clean claim submission through audits and reviews.
• Stay current on coding updates and payer policies.
• Collaborate with providers and leadership to clarify documentation.
