Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services, LLC seeks a Certified Medical Coding Specialist with emphasis on surgical services to ensure accurate professional fee coding and documentation review. The role supports coding compliance, audits, and optimal reimbursement while maintaining patient care standards.

The candidate must have surgical coding experience, a current AAPC or AHIMA certification, and the ability to work in hybrid or remote settings—residing in IES operating states.

Qualifications

• High-level knowledge of general surgery terminology, anatomy and pathophysiology.
• Strong CPT/HCPCS Level II and ICD-10-CM coding understanding.
• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC or CCS-P).
• Minimum five years of professional medical coding experience, with surgical focus.
• Ability to audit, review documentation, and ensure medical necessity.

Responsibilities

• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services.
• Review medical records for completeness, accuracy and medical necessity.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.
• Identify undercoding/overcoding and manage denials risk.
• Apply correct modifiers, place of service, and payer selection.
• Conduct coding audits and ad hoc reviews to improve accuracy.
• Monitor payer policies and coding updates; stay current.
• Collaborate with providers and leadership to improve documentation.
