Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Physician Practice Coder to code surgical cases across multiple specialties, ensuring CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS II accuracy and appropriate modifiers. The role supports revenue integrity and reduces payer denials.

You will review documentation, advise providers on coding practices, and collaborate with revenue cycle teammates. A 3+ year surgical coding background and AAPC/AHIMA certification are required; associates degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers for professional coding.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and reimbursement policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Research coding rules and denials; identify and correct coding problems.

Responsibilities

• Perform coding of moderate/high complexity surgical cases and E/M services accurately.
• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS II and modifiers based on documentation and payer rules.
• Review documentation and charges; research rules for new procedures.
• Resolve coding edits and denials; reduce denials and improve revenue.
