Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Commercial Surety Underwriter to join our Surety Team in the Southeast region. The role will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, using the Zurich Way of Underwriting framework to deliver high-quality service while partnering with brokers to write profitable business.

The position may be filled at Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing, Finance, Accounting, Banking
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines
• Experience with quotes on new and renewal business

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet appetite and identify sound business opportunities.
• Make agent/broker/customer and on-site calls with purpose.
• Negotiate terms and close deals.
• Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase product density.
• Participate in Sales Team meetings related to brokers/territory.
• Manage target accounts 90–120 days prior to effective date.
• Update broker/client visits and account status in required systems.
