Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Commercial Surety Underwriter for its Southeast Region. The role supports broker relationships and uses a structured underwriting framework to write profitable business.

The position can be filled at Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, with hiring based on experience and fit. Strong risk assessment and sales execution are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years experience in underwriting/finance or 6+ years in underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree with relevant underwriting exposure.
• Familiarity with industry guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet appetite and risk-reward criteria.
• Make agent/broker/customer calls with a planned purpose and prepared materials.
• Negotiate terms and conditions and close deals.
• Cross-sell other lines of business to increase density with accounts.
• Lead complex projects to implement new systems or programs.
