Job summary

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and fluency in spoken and written English.
• Current acceptable AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CIC).
• At least two years of continuous professional coding experience in a VA or comparable complex healthcare setting.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, E/M coding and provider queries.
• Familiarity with Oracle Health coding workflows; knowledge of Solventum CRS, VistA, CPRS, VIRR preferred or required.
• Ability to meet VA productivity, timeliness, data-security, privacy, quality, and coding-accuracy requirements.
• Must demonstrate supervisory experience managing coding personnel and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inpatient, outpatient, professional, ambulatory-surgery coding personnel.
• Establish and report productivity, accuracy, timeliness, and quality expectations.
• Coordinate scheduling, leave, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Monitor coding work queues, claims, audits, denials, and compliance issues.
• Provide education and technical direction on coding regulations and VA procedures.
• Coordinate with VA leadership on revenue-cycle, quality, and priorities.
• Develop corrective actions and process improvements when needed.
• Utilize Oracle Health, Solventum CRS, CPRS, VistA, and VIRR as required.
• Protect patient information and ensure HIPAA and VA security compliance.
