Job summary

UtilliCo is seeking a Structural Designer / Substation Engineer with 3+ years of experience to support planning, design, and development of electric substations for utility clients. Roles include design of steel structures, foundations, and equipment supports, with site visits and occasional travel.

You will collaborate with multiple disciplines, verify drawings, and ensure compliance with codes and client standards while contributing to complex infrastructure from concept to completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years post-education experience in substation/utility projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation required; Revit preferred.
• Proficiency with MathCAD, BlueBeam, RISA 3-D, FAD, SAG10, and LPILE.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting and analyzing data from sites, drawings, and vendor docs to support substation structural design.
• Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, materials, and contract compliance.
• Collaborate with structural, electrical, and civil teams to execute substation projects.
• Ensure designs meet city, state, and federal regulations and client standards.
• Prepare steel and foundation plans, sections, and elevations; assemble BOMs.
