Job summary

ABB is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to lead design activities for protection and control systems in utility, industrial, and commercial substations. The role prioritizes efficient, standards-compliant engineering and cross‑disciplinary collaboration on projects, with remote work options and preference for Northern California candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in protection & control projects for utility customers.
• Ability to read, correctly interpret, and apply electrical one‑lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.
• Proficient software experience should include Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, and EMTP.
• PE License in California required.
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and act as technical lead for engineering activities in assignments.
• Develop engineering documentation and analyses to support designs.
• Manage project materials, construction design packages, and issue resolution with updates to teams and customers.
• Adhere to safety practices and participate in training to maintain proficiency.
