Job summary

ABB seeks a Protection & Control Engineer to act as the technical lead for engineering activities in utility, industrial, and commercial substation projects. You will develop designs, schematics, and calculations while coordinating with teams and customers.

The role is fully remote with a preference for candidates in Northern California. Requires a CA PE license, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Masters Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of protection & control experience for utility customers.
• Ability to read and apply electrical one-lines and schematics.
• PE License in California required; US work authorization already in place.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design activities for substation protection & control/automation systems.
• Develop documentation, schematics, layouts, BOMs, and calculations.
• Manage materials, design packages, and issue resolution with project teams.
• Ensure safety, standards, and customer requirements compliance.
