Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Substation P&C Designer to join our Power Group. The role is hybrid in multiple locations and may be remote for the right candidate, supporting projects from Chicago, IL and other sites.

You will design protection and control for HV substations up to 765kV, develop diagrams, and coordinate with clients while traveling to sites as needed. Strong CAD skills and knowledge of NEC/NESC/IEEE are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant substation or general electrical T&D designing experience.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC and IEEE codes.
• Ability to use CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation) for design deliverables.
• Associate degree is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of substation voltages (MV, HV, EHV).
• Ability to manage schedules and budgets for tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design and execution of high-voltage substations from 4kV to 765kV with emphasis on safety and reliability.
• Produce designs and engineering deliverables under supervision of lead engineer and project manager.
• Perform basic engineering calculations related to deliverables.
• Develop one- and three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and relay panel layouts.
• Compile materials lists and assist with procurement per contracts.
