SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own preliminary substation design and technical ownership across utility-scale solar and related projects. You will align design basis, scope, schedule, risks, and assumptions from BD kickoff through handoff to Preconstruction Engineering.

The role requires a minimum 3+ years in electrical substation engineering, proficiency with AutoCAD/ETAP, and strong knowledge of IEEE/NEC/NESC standards. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles and protection schemes.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, NESC and related industry standards.
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.
• Good grasp of local, state, and federal regulations for electrical engineering and solar development.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsabilités

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design and 10% design deliverables.
• Review client documents and project inputs to define design basis and risks.
• Serve as technical owner coordinating inputs from engineering, procurement, estimating and scheduling.
• Lead development of 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, quantities, and scope narrative.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and clarify/expcelate gaps.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD per project stage gates.
• Prepare and issue proposals to EORs and engineering subcontractors.
• Transfer RFIs, client comments, and design risks to HV engineering team during handoff.
