Job summary

Powerserve Technologies in Florida is seeking a Substation Design Engineer (Civil/Structural) to join our remote workforce. The role centers on civil and structural design for electrical substations, collaborating with electrical engineers and project teams to deliver complete, constructible designs.

You will work on foundation designs, structural layouts, site grading, and drainage, ensuring compliance with IEEE, ASCE, and local codes, with occasional field support within Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in civil/structural design (substation or utility experience preferred)
• Proficiency with engineering design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD, or similar)
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, foundations, and site development

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil and structural components of electrical substations
• Prepare and review foundation designs for equipment, control buildings, and steel structures
• Review site grading, drainage, and erosion control plans; ensure design feasibility
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure constructible designs and compliance
• Provide occasional field support during construction within Florida
• Ensure drawings and specifications meet IEEE, ASCE, ACI and local codes
