Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Staff Threat Researcher to advance adversary tradecraft analysis across endpoint, cloud, and identity environments. You will dissect complex attacks, transform discoveries into scalable detections, and influence product strategy while mentoring peers in a remote role reporting to Threat Research management.

You’ll work with Windows/macOS/Linux, engage with AWS, Microsoft 365, Okta, and drive automated proofs of concept for new detections, contributing to proactive security

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging AI/ML to optimize outcomes.
• Experience with commercial Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and/or Cloud-based detection platforms.
• Software development experience in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python) and one compiled language (C, C++, Go).
• Security experience in at least one cloud service provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud architectures.
• Established record of public engagement (conference talks, blog posts, webinars, etc.).
• Experience managing code with git/GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Scope and refine research initiatives, analyzing attack techniques and detection data across OS and cloud/SaaS providers.
• Engineer automated attack code and tests, develop proofs of concept for detections.
• Collaborate with detection engineers, intelligence analysts, and threat hunters to refine deliverables.
• Document and present research findings in accessible ways and mentor colleagues.
• Stay ahead of evolving evasion tactics to strengthen defensive capabilities.
