Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead backend and frontend initiatives in a fully remote role. You will drive architecture, implementation, and delivery of high-impact digital government solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients across the federal civilian space.

The role requires substantial experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and mentoring engineers, with a strong focus on scalable, secure systems and effective technical decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert-level back-end proficiency with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience designing REST APIs and microservices.
• Mentors engineers and provides technical guidance.
• Experience leading complex software projects.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical leadership for backend design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Leads architecture discussions and tradeoffs for new and existing projects.
• Designs REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven patterns with scalable solutions.
• Mentors engineers and supports technical growth through coaching and reviews.
• Communicates technical decisions clearly to engineers, clients, and stakeholders.
