Job summary

Ad Hoc is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Front End/ Back End to work remotely on Federal Civilian projects. You will provide technical leadership, design REST APIs and microservices, and collaborate with product, design, and client teams to deliver scalable software.

We value high standards, mentorship, and pragmatic problem solving for complex government tech. 9+ years in software and deep Java/Spring Boot expertise, with AWS, Docker, and modern dev practices are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert in backend engineering with leadership on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to ensure scope, schedule, quality, and delivery.
• Represent software engineering in planning and communicate tradeoffs.
• Lead architecture discussions for APIs, microservices, and tech choices.
• Design and maintain REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Mentor engineers and drive improvements in engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, and clients to translate needs.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality and security.
