Job summary

Arbor Research Collaborative for Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable in a government contracting environment.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile ledgers, and assist with ASC 606 revenue recognition, project billing, and audits. Effective collaboration with the Accounting Manager and program teams is essential in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of general ledger or staff accounting, incl. 2+ years with a government contractor/federally funded org.
• Hands-on experience with Unanet, including GL processing and month-end utilities.
• Working knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA audit requirements, and indirect rate structures.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and reconciliations practices.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data reconciliation).
• Ability to obtain/maintain background investigation if contract requires.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, and reclassifications per GAAP.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, accruals, fixed assets).
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare schedules and analyses (budget-to-actual, variance) for overhead/GA owners.
• Maintain chart of accounts and org structure with Accounting Manager.
• Support labor cost distribution, timekeeping, and labor reconciliations.
• Assist with project setup, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and contract billing.
• Prepare responses for DCAA, DCMA, cognizant agencies, and audits (Uniform Guidance).
• Develop and maintain standard/adhoc reports for management/compliance.
• Process vendor/subcontractor invoices in Unanet; ensure correct charging.
• Perform three-way matching and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
• Review subcontractor invoices for terms, rates, ceilings, and performance period.
• Process employee expense reports in Unanet for policy compliance (FTR where applicable).
• Prepare weekly payment runs (ACH, checks, wires) and maintain vendor data (W-9, SAM).
• Reconcile AP subledger to GL monthly; maintain AP aging; record accruals.
• Prepare annual Form 1099 filings and respond to vendor inquiries.
