Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to analyze revenue and expense accounts, prepare variance reports, and support budgets and forecasts. The role supports weekly projections, annual budgets, and overall operating plans while maintaining finance reporting across the business.

Remote role with residency required in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX; travel up to 10–25% to Denver may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics.
• Strong financial analysis foundation including forecasting and modeling.
• Proficiency in Excel with advanced lookup and conditional logic.
• Experience with financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Experience with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial data by collecting, monitoring, and creating financial models for decision support for revenue, expense, and strategic objectives.
• Improve financial performance by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
• Work with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM financial reporting.
• Build and maintain financial models and forecasts.
• Document processes and improve financial controls across reporting cycles.
• Prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
