Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to analyze revenue and expense accounts, prepare variance reports, and support the company’s budgeting and forecasting processes. The role leverages Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM for financial reporting and requires strong Excel proficiency with advanced functions.

The position is remote, but candidates must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics required.
• Strong Excel skills with advanced lookups and conditional logic.
• Experience building forecasts and financial models.

Responsibilities

• Analyze revenue and expense accounts and prepare variance reports.
• Create financial models for decision support, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Monitor results vs. plans and forecasts to improve financial performance.
• Develop weekly projections and annual budgets.
