Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to analyze revenue and expense accounts, prepare variance reports, and assist with weekly projections and annual budgets. This remote role requires residence in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX and involves travel to Denver (10-25%).

You will work with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM, build forecasts, and support finance reporting across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics required.
• Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills required.
• Proficiency in Excel with advanced lookup functions and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial data by collecting, monitoring, and creating financial models for decision support for revenue, expense, and strategic objectives.
• Improve financial performance by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
• Work with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM financial reporting.
• Have a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models.
• Strong analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills including building models.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced lookup functions (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), conditional logic (IF, IFS, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS), and dynamic cell linking.
• Strong financial modeling experience.
• Have extensive understanding of financial processes, systems and controls and responsibility for documenting the processes.
• Able to prioritize workload with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects.
