Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to analyze revenue and expense accounts and prepare variance reports while supporting the company’s operating plans. This role is remote, but candidates must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TX.

You will analyze financial data, create models for decision support, and help with forecasts and budgets using Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM. Travel to Denver is expected 10-25% and a strong Excel foundation is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalent
• Strong financial analysis foundation and forecasting experience
• Proficiency with Excel including advanced functions (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH)
• Experience with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze revenue and expense accounts and prepare variance reports
• Support weekly projections and annual budgets
• Develop financial models to support decision making
• Monitor variances by comparing actuals to plans and forecasts
• Document financial processes and controls
• Collaborate with multiple departments to improve financial performance
