Job summary

Sentara Health Plans seeks a Senior Underwriter for remote work who will underwrite high‑complexity employer groups and drive strategic pricing decisions with data and actuarial insights.

You will mentor underwriters and trainees, support major cases and RFPs, and collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership to shape underwriting strategy and process improvements. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour role with nationwide remote eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED.
• Underwriter – 7 years of experience REQUIRED.
• Health Plan experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Senior Underwriter will underwrite high‑complexity employer groups and lead strategic rating decisions balancing competitiveness and profitability.
• Mentor and serve as a subject‑matter expert for Underwriters and Trainees, support high‑profile cases and RFPs, and collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership.
• Contribute to process improvement, training development, and underwriting strategy.
