Sentara Health Plans is seeking a Senior Underwriter for a remote role, supporting complex employer groups with strategic pricing decisions. The position requires deep expertise in underwriting, claims analysis, and funding arrangements, with experience in both Fully Insured and Self-Funded programs.

This role also serves as a mentor to junior underwriters and trainees, collaborates with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership, and contributes to training and underwriting strategy improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED.
• 7 years of underwriting experience REQUIRED.
• Health plan experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite high‑complexity employer groups with strategic rating decisions.
• Mentor underwriters and trainees; support high‑profile cases and RFPs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership; contribute to process improvements and underwriting strategy.
