Sentara Health Plans is hiring a Senior Underwriter for a remote role supporting employer groups with complex pricing. You will apply actuarial concepts, analyze claims, and develop sound pricing in both Fully Insured and Self-Funded structures.

You will mentor underwriters and trainees, collaborate with Sales, Actuarial and Leadership, and contribute to underwriting strategy and training development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED.
• Underwriter with 7+ years of experience REQUIRED.
• Health Plan experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite high complexity employer groups to balance competitiveness and profitability.
• Lead strategic rating decisions using claims analysis and actuarial concepts.
• Mentor Underwriters and Trainees and support high-profile cases and RFPs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership and contribute to process improvements.
