Sentara Health Plan is actively seeking a Senior Underwriter for a remote role. The position leads underwriting for complex employer groups, leveraging deep claims analysis and actuarial concepts to craft sound pricing while balancing competitiveness and profitability.

You will mentor underwriters and trainees, support high‑profile cases and RFPs, and collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership to drive underwriting strategy and continuous improvement across processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 7 years of underwriting experience required
• Health plan experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Underwrite employer groups of high complexity and balance competitiveness with profitability.
• Mentor and SME for Underwriters and Trainees; support high‑profile cases and RFPs; collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership.
• Contribute to process improvement, training development, and underwriting strategy.
