Job summary

ICF is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead complex transmission line designs and provide senior technical direction across utility projects. You will mentor engineers, ensure design accuracy, and support project scopes, schedules, and budgets from conceptual through final design.

You will apply NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and FERC‑881 standards, coordinate with project managers, and contribute to technical documentation and field inspections while working remotely with a national client

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience (design, analysis, modeling, or similar).
• 8+ years of experience with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.
• 8+ years of experience in PLS-CADD.
• People management and mentorship experience.
• Experience directing and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance and delivering constructive feedback.
• Knowledge of standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC‑881, and FAC‑008.
• Ability to plan and manage assignments and communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/schedule.
• Initiative to embrace continuous learning toward becoming an expert.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from conceptual engineering through final design, including EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.
• Provide senior‑level technical expertise and direction to design staff, ensuring technical accuracy and best practices.
• Perform key engineering studies such as conductor economic evaluations and grounding calculations.
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements including NERC, FERC, and regional standards.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, RFQs, bid evaluations, and vendor drawings.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and change orders.
• Conduct QA/QC for engineering deliverables and construction administration activities.
• Lead field inspections and installation reviews for clients.
• Develop and present technical reports and support business development efforts.
