Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for production support. This remote, U.S.-based role focuses on maintaining and optimizing complex cloud and on-premises infrastructure in collaboration with VA projects.

You will diagnose outages, automate routine tasks, implement security controls, and ensure compliance with VA standards while working with cross‑functional teams, managing incidents, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS/Azure cloud platforms and production systems.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration experience.
• Automation and scripting proficiency (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with CI/CD and IaC tools such as CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems.
• Document incidents and progress in logging tools.
• Work with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain system assets and ensure VA security compliance.
