Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud systems and maintain production reliability for VA missions. This is a remote, US-based, full-time role under the Veterans Affairs department.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS/Azure, Linux and Windows, automation, IaC, CI/CD, and security best practices, and thrive in a fast-paced, on-call environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, production environments.
• Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud, Linux/Unix and Windows.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with IaC tools and CI/CD pipelines, and security/compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document problems and communicate status to users and senior management.
• Maintain inventory and perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams for seamless production operations.
